This page describes some custom units of measurement that I have invented for various reasons.

Brexit

How long it takes to send one gigabyte (or GB, Great Britain) out of any device or network.

Vax- prefix and variants

A prefix to any other unit of measurement equivalent to −5 billion. For a positive number, use antivax-, equivalent to 5 billion or 5G. Use V and AV as abbreviations.

The vaxi- and antivaxi- prefixes are defined for powers of two, as 5×2³⁰ and −5×2³⁰ respectively. Those use the Vi and AVi abbreviations.

Add the following to your .units file to use those prefixes:

vax-          5e9

antivaxi- -5*2^30

V-            5e9
AV-          -5e9
Vi-        5*2^30
AVi-      -5*2^30

Euro- prefix

A prefix that causes its attached unit to change to the standard unit used in mainland Europe with the same dimension, without causing a conversion. While this is mostly meant to convert American units into metric, this can be used with any unit of any system.

When multiple units exist in the original system of measurement and in the same dimension, an equivalent commonly used European unit may be used, including variants with SI prefixes.

• One euroyard is one meter.
• One euromile is one kilometer.
• One eurosquare foot is one square meter.
• One euroacre is one hectare.
• One europound is one kilogram.
• One eurogallon is one liter.
• One degree Eurofahrenheit is one degree Celsius.
• One eurodollar is one euro.
• One euroyen is one euro.
• One British europound, or euro-British pound, is one euro.

The abbreviation is the € symbol, for example €in or €lb. For currencies, to avoid confusion with the actual euro, the symbol of the original currency should be prefixed with EU instead: EU$, EU¥.
