I remember thinking that that interest I had in a red, dark red wooden shed my parents had in their garden. The garden was really small and the house my parents lived in was shaped like a cube. After some sort of storm, there was a door stored inside that shed, just behind the door of the shed itself.

I also thought that I liked to go in that shed while it was raining, because I liked the sound of the rain against the roof. But that bothered my mom because she couldn’t bring me drinks or candies while I was there. She just wanted to have more opportunities to go see me.

I then remember a large house in the middle of a large garden. The house had 4 floors1, not counting the attic. This apparently was my own house. From the second to the fourth floor, we could see from the outside through the windows a large amount of books on bookshelves.

While talking to my mom about the fourth floor’s books, I told her about the kind of books that my grandfather liked, about wars, colonialism and the kind of military equipment he was collecting.

On the third floor, although we could also see lots of books on the windows, we could also see that parts of the bookshelves were hollowed out to give some space to some beds along the outermost walls of the floor. A balcony was on the second floor, with another bookshelf on it. Half of that bookshelf was taken by brown books with golden paintings on them, like old encyclopedias, and the bottom half had more modern-looking books.

I remember visiting some buildings at 4 street numbers in the same street as my house. Apparently, all of those numbers were officially linked to one of the floors of my house. At one of those buildings, we get in the main hall of some kind of sci-fi cult, with beige walls. I meet Alec Sadler there, a character from the Continuum series (I really recommend you watch it).

When entering a tunnel leading to some kind of paid exhibition there, I see an employee checking IDs. Someone gives my mom some device, and she uses it to update her SMC, the chip in her head like Kiera Cameron in Continuum, and she passes the ID check.

I try to sneakily ask my mom for the device, but she doesn’t understand my hand gestures, so I end up not passing the check. A woman escorts me to the reception desk, and I try unsuccessfully to ask much less subtly my mom for the device. When returning to the hall and leaving the stairs that led to the tunnel, I again see Alec Sadler, this time in his suit and tie like for when he works at Piron, observing some children that were watching a strange demo. Some numbered devices were being used to control an AI. The demo went badly while one child was eating a cookie: Alec was telling an employee, with a stern tone, that she had picked the wrong device. The employee was meanwhile being lifted up by an invisible force which threw her towards the ceiling. Alec said something like “You know exactly why you are getting this treatment.” Even if I watched most of Continuum with the original voice and subtitles recently, Alec was speaking in the voice of the French version.

  1. The ground floor is not counted. In France, it is usually included when counting the floors of a house.↩︎
